Hey Everyone,
Just letting you know that I am exactly one level deadlier then I was before I left. Monday Julie and I successfully passed out Yellow Belt test. It was pretty fun, I screwed up in parts of the actual pumsai (routine), but atleast I was making the snaps with my punches and kicks which was good. As well, I was also good at knowing the Korean names of most of the stances, kicks, and punches. THe best part of the test was something that they didn't tell us we'd be doing.....Breakin' Boards.
It was pretty awesome, Julie went first and she had no idea how she was suppose to kick the board, but when she did it broke into three pieces and hit the ceiling. I was impressed. I on the other hand cannot kick as high as Julie, so I missed on my first attempt and barely succeded on the second. Then came the punching, this I knew I could do. Julie went first and managed to break on of the two boards on her first time and then broke the second one, but hurt her hand a little bit breaking the two boards. When it was my turn Quang-jang-nim, the Master, told me I would be doing three boards, I've watched enough Bruce Lee films to think I know what I'm doing, so I was okay with it. So they held the boards and I did some practice punches to get my snap down, and it was no problem, I broke'm easily. Finally the years of watching great martial arts films like Sidekicks, paid off.
